Norwich Police said they received a 911 call around 5:25 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 5, about the crash at 655 East Main St. They found the man with serious wounds to his head and chest, but the car that hit him was long gone.

Paramedics rushed the man to William W. Backus Hospital and later to Hartford Hospital, where he remains in critical condition. Authorities did not release the man's name.

Police have no information on the vehicle that hit him, and they hope witnesses who have information will come forward.

They ask anyone who saw the crash or has any information on it to contact Sgt. Richard Cannata at RCannata@cityofnorwich.org or 860-886-5561 ext 3521.
